For over 130 years, Cristallina Design has combined expertise in the extraction and processing of Swiss natural stones with a concrete commitment to sustainability. Every day, we explore new responsible practices, from the sourcing of raw materials to production, from packaging to the management of our production sites. Our goal is to reduce our environmental impact while preserving the artisanal excellence that distinguishes us.
Materials and Responsible Sourcing
Our marble quarry, the only one in Switzerland, is located in Pescia, in the Canton of Ticino, where we extract Cristallina marble in 14 different shades using environmentally friendly methods. The extraction takes place mainly in tunnels, avoiding spoiling the mountain landscape, and is carried out in a sustainable way, limiting ourselves to quantities necessary to preserve the natural resource.
Our natural stones are completely biodegradable and intrinsically sustainable materials. Their durability allows us to create design objects and furnishings that can be passed down from generation to generation, thus reducing the need for continuous production.
Manufacturing Processes
Our laboratory, located a few kilometers from the quarry, uses innovative machinery powered by a large photovoltaic system, thus reducing CO2 emissions and ensuring a sustainable production process. We reuse the water used during the cutting and processing of stones, optimizing the use of resources and reducing waste.
Furthermore, we collaborate with excellent craftsmen, both in Switzerland and internationally, particularly in the Carrara area, to guarantee the highest quality standards.
We are committed to rigorous worker safety protocols, ensuring fair and safe conditions, in compliance with Swiss regulations, among the most stringent in the world.
Our packaging is designed to be reusable or easily recyclable, reflecting our commitment to a circular economy.
