Corals
Cristallina marble was formed in the Triassic period, about 250 million years ago, through a process of calcification and crystallization of different marine elements, when the sea covered Europe. White marble, in fact, is the result of the metamorphosis of coral remains.
With this project, we want to tell the fascinating origins of Cristallina marble, which are almost a paradox of Switzerland. Despite being a landlocked country, its mountain holds a stone that comes from the primordial ocean. This contrast between its marine past and mountain present makes the history of Cristallina marble even more mysterious and precious, adding a unique value to this extraordinary material.
